Yes there is a ripple effect that many did not account for. We must understand how connected we all are. Restaurants, services, office cleaners, and more have been grossly negatively affected by the massive remote work. Is the American economy equipped for this change? From interacting with various companies who have allowed remote work for customer service positions I have experienced some workers who are distracted and providing a less than satisfactory interaction, I have experienced some workers providing phenomenal service, and I have experienced other workers who barely provide the bare minimum. In my day to day movements I have witnessed poor multitasking with some employees lacking in integrity with the obligations and responsibilities of their position and expectations while on company time and I have witnessed some employees with high integrity, productivity, and balance. Thoughtful conversations, policies, and expectations are essential for each employer to conduct and establish to garner appropriate productivity to stabilize the economy and work-life balance. It is imperative to remember all employees cannot work remotely simply by the nature of their job. There is much to discuss around the changes ahead.
