Dragon Ball Super has done an excellent job at taking Akira Toriyama’s signature shonen series and pushing it to unprecedented heights through the introduction of new characters, transformations, and a whole multiverse of obstacles to conquer. Dragon Ball Super has helped incorporate celebrated ideas like Ultra Instinct, the Super Dragon Balls, and the Tournament of Power, but it’s also reinvigorated Shin’s Supreme Kai role by tethering his lifeline to Universe 7’s God of Destruction Beerus.
Shin may now serve a more important role in Dragon Ball Super’s broader deconstruction of the multiverse, yet he’s still someone who’s often pushed to the sidelines, despite his prolific power. Dragon Ball DAIMA is prepared to give Shin his due when he and Goku fearlessly journey into the Demon Realm. Shin’s important role in Dragon Ball DAIMA has audiences excited to reexamine the East Supreme Kai’s power, especially when it’s placed in the context of Dragon Ball Super’s fiercest fighters.

10 Pan Is An Intense Three-Year-Old Who Punches Way Above Her Weight
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Z, Episode 289, "Granddaughter Pan"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Z, Chapter 324 (Dragon Ball Chapter 518), "10 Years After"
There are plenty of powerful Dragon Ball Super characters to consider when it comes to the series’ strongest fighters. In most series, a precocious three-year-old isn’t going to make the cut, but Pan comes from a long line of prolific Saiyans and she’s already on track to become one of Universe 7’s most powerful players. Pan, Goku’s granddaughter and Gohan’s daughter, has engaged in serious training with Piccolo that seems to have trumped Gohan’s previous wilderness training with the extreme Namekian.
Pan has already mastered flight, despite only being in kindergarten, and she’s proven that she can hold her own against Red Ribbon’s top soldiers. Pan is destined for greatness and she’s likely to become the series’ youngest Super Saiyan if she continues at this pace. However, her incredible potential and early promise would still fall short against Shin and his divine Supreme Kai skills.
9 Uub Is Kid Buu’s Pure-Hearted Reincarnation & A Future Prodigy
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Z, Episode 289, "Granddaughter Pan"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Z, Chapter 324 (Dragon Ball Chapter 518), "10 Years After"
Dragon Ball Z ends on a surprising note at the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament when Goku is quickly taken by the power of a ten-year-old boy, Uub. Goku realizes that Uub is Kid Buu’s reincarnation and someone who has the potential to become as powerful as the ancient evil who once wiped out the planet. Goku pledges to help Uub perfect his skills and properly actualize his dormant power. Curiously, Dragon Ball Super is set before Goku and Uub’s momentous encounter, which means that Uub is currently off in the wild and largely oblivious of his power and potential.
Dragon Ball Super’s manga continues to edge closer to the 28th World Tournament, and it’s likely that Uub will once again play an important role in the narrative. Nevertheless, Uub lacks the proper discipline and knowledge to ever beat Shin in battle. Uub currently has the Grand Supreme Kai by his side to help guide him through the world, which understandably may give Shin pause. However, Shin still easily clears Uub before he perfects his abilities and taps into the raw power that lies inside of him.

8 Gotenks Has Regressed From Super Saiyan Savant To An Embarrassing Gag Character
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Z, Episode 251, "Gotenks Is Born"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Z, Chapter 286 (Dragon Ball Chapter 480), "The Fusion Succeeds...?!"
Dragon Ball Z sets up Goten and Trunks for success, and they proceed to achieve incredible power when they pool together their skills and fuse into Gotenks, one of the few individuals in the series who can tap into Super Saiyan 3 strength. Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks is a force to be reckoned with in Dragon Ball Z, which makes it all the more disappointing that Gotenks is largely played for laughs in Dragon Ball Super and his development is abruptly stunted. Gotenks gets very little to do in Dragon Ball Super, and he isn’t even invited to participate in the Tournament of Power.
To make matters worse, Gotenks’ past few appearances have all been failed fusions that turn the character into a liability. Dragon Ball Z’s Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks and his Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack and Continuous Die Die Missile would likely be able to defeat Shin or at least will him into submission. However, Gotenks’ disappointing performance in Dragon Ball Super tells a different story and there’s a good chance that he’d fumble the execution and fail against Shin.
7 Krillin Makes Waves As One Of Earth’s Strongest Humans
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball, Episode 14, "Goku's Rival"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball, Chapter 25, "A Rival Arrives!!"
Krillin has experienced tremendous growth since his first appearance in the original Dragon Ball as a crafty rival to Goku during their prestigious Turtle School training under Master Roshi. Krillin has acknowledged his limitations as a human and that he can’t rely on powerful transformations like his Saiyan peers, but he hasn’t let this stop him from taking on some of the universe’s strongest enemies, perfecting a powerful attack arsenal, and providing vital contributions during the Tournament of Power.
Krillin’s accomplishments are nothing to diminish, and he’s certainly put many other powerful human fighters to shame. That being said, he still can’t compare to the divine power that’s at the fingertips of Shin. As a Supreme Kai, Shin has the power to heal himself, even if he’s injured by a deadly Destructo Disc. It’s even possible that Shin’s advanced abilities would protect him from the blinding light of Krillin’s Solar Flare x100.
6 Botamo Is A Rotund Warrior From Universe 6 Who Proves To Be A Paltry Pushover
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 32, "The Matches Begin! We're All Off To The 'Planet With No Name!'"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 7, "Warriors From Universe 6"
Dragon Ball Super gets a lot of mileage out of its multiverse premise and Universe 6 becomes the audience’s first taste of different realms before the Tournament of Power goes overboard in this regard. Champa, Universe 6’s God of Destruction, assembles some commendable combatants for the Tournament of Destroyers against Universe 7. Botamo is on the weaker end of these warriors, even after the progress that he’s made for the Tournament of Power. Botamo is a gigantic fighter who proves to be extremely durable because of his body’s fat, which acts as a natural shock absorber and defense mechanism.
Individuals like Goku and Gohan can wail away on Botamo to little effect and even powerful energy attacks, like the Kamehameha, have minimal effect on his body. Botamo excels at defense, but this advantage has led to him slacking in other departments. Both of Botamo’s big battles result in him getting thrown out of the arena with relative ease. It’s not hard to imagine Shin utilizing Supreme Kai magic and skills to overwhelm Botamo and take him out of the picture.

Every Dragon Ball Super Saga’s Strongest Character
Dragon Ball Super pushes its heroes and villains to new heights, but each separate saga has a special character who rises above the rest.
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 32, "The Matches Begin! We're All Off To The 'Planet With No Name!'"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 7, "Warriors From Universe 6"
Dragon Ball Super is full of dozens of unique species that all have their share of assets and disadvantages. Universe 6’s Auta Magetta is a member of the Metalman race who pride themselves on their extremely heavy bodies and resistance to heat. Auta Magetta weighs over 1000 tonnes and can produce lava that becomes a powerful projectile. Additionally, Auta Magetta can increase an environment’s temperature to punishing heights, as well as shrouding the area in steam. These are impressive skills that would be enough to trump most opponents, especially those that are human. However, Shin has such an impressive legacy to his name that it’s hard to imagine him being overwhelmed by intense heat and a hazy terrain.
A crucial Metalman weakness that comes to light is that they ironically have a very thin skin when it comes to verbal insults. All it takes is a few crude comments to make a Metalman stop in their tracks and become vulnerable. Shin is knowledgeable enough when it comes to the universe and its many secrets that he’s surely aware of Auta Magetta’s central weakness. Rude insults may not come naturally to someone like Shin, but he’d surely be able to stoop to this juvenile level if it was the difference between victory and defeat.
4 Cabba Is An Excitable Saiyan From Universe 6 Who Is Eager To Grow
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 32, "The Matches Begin! We're All Off To The 'Planet With No Name!'"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 7, "Warriors From Universe 6"
All of Universe 6’s top fighters bring something special to the series, but a major revelation that comes out of this realm is that Universe 6 still has a thriving Saiyan homeworld. This means that Dragon Ball Super is able to introduce several new Saiyans into the mix, such as Kale, Caulifla, and Cabba. Cabba is the first Universe 6 Saiyan that audiences meet and Vegeta provides him with some essential advice and a crash course on how to channel Super Saiyan strength. Cabba comes a long way, and he manages to acquire Super Saiyan 2 strength by the Tournament of Power’s end.
Cabba’s strength isn’t up for debate, but he can lack the confidence and raw battle experience that Shin carries. Shin could easily outsmart Cabba in battle and get the upper hand against this trusting Saiyan. Alternatively, Kale, Caulifla, and their fused form, Kefla, would have a better chance against Shin, and they might actually be able to defeat the Supreme Kai. Cabba lacks the same killer instinct.
3 Frost Is One Of Universe 6’s Most Nefarious Fighters
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 32, "The Matches Begin! We're All Off To The 'Planet With No Name!'"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 7, "Warriors From Universe 6"
Dragon Ball Super explores the concept of not just a multiverse, but the idea that each universe has its own sister realm that it shares a connection with and harbors many similarities. Universe 6 is Universe 7’s counterpart, and it appears to have a kindhearted duplicate of Frieza who is named Frost. Over time, it’s revealed that Frost is actually just as wicked as Frieza and that his altruistic attitude has merely been deceptive subterfuge. Frost doesn’t have a Golden transformation at his disposal, but he’s still incredibly powerful and someone who can’t be trusted under any circ*mstances.
Frost might be able to hold his own against Shin and even become inspired to eliminate the Supreme Kai because of all the honorable things that he represents. Frost is also shown to have experience with the Evil Containment Wave, which could become a viable way to pacify Shin without having to actually be stronger than he is. However, Shin has witnessed Frost in action and is wise to his tricks. Shin would be sure to lead with his strongest abilities and not present any blind spots that give Frost the opportunity to cheat his way to success.

2 Gohan Spends The Majority Of Dragon Ball Super Trying To Get His Groove Back
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Z, Episode 1, "The New Threat"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Z, Chapter 2 (Dragon Ball Chapter 196), "Kakarrot"
Gohan is a fascinating figure in the sense that Dragon Ball Z teases his potential from the very start and how it’s his destiny to surpass his father’s strength. Dragon Ball gets cold feet in this department and Gohan’s ascension to main character status is short-lived and continues to regress through Dragon Ball Super. Gohan still has his essential Ultimate Gohan upgrade in Dragon Ball Super, but he appears to be weaker than ever before after he takes an extended step away from martial arts in favor of focusing on his family. Gohan’s early defeats in Dragon Ball Super are incredibly frustrating and Shin would no doubt be disappointed that this is the same person that he helped train on the Sacred World of the Kai.
Gohan helps regain his fighting spirit during the Tournament of Power, but it still looks like he’d get cold feet against Shin and lose in battle. He continues to make very sloppy mistakes, like when he gets blinded by Universe 9’s Lavender. Gohan has since become one of Dragon Ball Super’s strongest characters after his Gohan Beast upgrade in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, but the version of Gohan who is present for most of Dragon Ball Super wouldn’t stand a chance against Shin.
1 Piccolo’s Skills Don’t Reach Their Apex In Dragon Ball Super Until The Super Hero Saga
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball, Episode 123, "Lost And Found"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball, Chapter 161, "The Fist Of Son Goku"
Dragon Ball Super struggles to get the most out of Piccolo and where his talents would be best suited. He’s present for many of the series’ biggest conflicts, yet there’s an increasing discrepancy that forms between his power level and that of the Saiyans, especially once they tap into God ki and divine transformations. Piccolo, for example, isn’t present during Goku, Vegeta, and Future Trunks’ battle against Future Zamasu and Goku Black. Piccolo’s contributions during the Tournament of Power, while helpful, are still nowhere near the heights of Universe 7’s other fighters, like Vegeta, Frieza, and Android 17.
Piccolo has recently received a massive power boost in the form of his Orange Piccolo transformation, which would easily be able to humble Shin. Piccolo seems likely to falter against the Supreme Kai without this transformation, even if it amounts to a close fight. Piccolo also holds a lot of reverence for Shin, which is witnessed when he forfeits against him during their 25th World Tournament battle. Piccolo might get in his head during a fight against Shin and be unable to properly focus. Thankfully, the two will likely never have to truly come to blows.
